Churcher’s College is a private independent day school for boys and girls aged 11 – 18.
The school is located on a 50 acre site in the East Hampshire market town of Petersfield. The college was founded in 1722 and the senior school has been on it’s present site since 1877.
Churcher’s College Junior School is located about 8 miles away in Liphook, Hampshire. The senior school teaches just over 700 children.
The school has a great range of facilities including an impressive 25m indoor swimming pool, a sports hall, a gym, an astroturf, a large library, a dance studio and a sixth form centre set in it’s own garden. The school also owns another 20 acres of playing fields about 2 miles from the main campus.
There is also a wide range of activities and extra curricular opportunities for pupils including the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and the First & World Challenge Schemes and the Combined Cadet Force programme.
A variety of clubs and societies are in operation such as sports teams, language clubs, maths clubs, dance, martial arts, music lessons and yacht sailing, to name a few.
Churcher’s College also places great importance on pastoral care to support and guide students through their years at the school.
A house system is in operation with heads of house and form tutors taking an active interest in the welfare and academic and social well being of the pupils.
The pupils also benefit from the support of a full time school counsellor and a medical centre with two full time nurses.
Sixth Formers also receive the additional support of a personal tutor to assist with their studies and for making decisions in their next step to further education.
The College is a selective school and all prospective pupils will be required to provide a report from their current school and will have an interview with the Headmaster.
The entrance examination consists of papers in English, Maths and Verbal Reasoning and usually take place in the January prior to the academic year starting in the September. Entry into the Sixth Form is dependent on GCSE results.
