St Swithun’s Senior School is a private independent all girls school in Winchester, Hampshire.
Founded in 1884, the school sits in 42 acres of land and has had a reputation for high academic achievement for well over 100 years. The school believes a single sex education encourages the girls to truly be themselves and make choices free from gender expectations or stereotypes.
St Swithun’s School has an array of facilities available to the 450 students, including a full size swimming pool, an IT centre, a 600 seater performing arts centre, tennis courts, gardens and a music centre.

As well as being a day school, St Swithun’s Senior school has six boarding houses on campus and pupils can choose to be weekly or full time boarders.
The boarding houses are comprised of four mixed year houses, a Year 7 house for the youngest girls and a Year 13 house for the oldest girls. Each house has management staff for the day to day running of the boarding facilities.
After Year 11, pupils have the option to stay on for the Sixth Form, which has a variety of study programmes taught in small classes.
Organisation, independence, time management and public speaking are all skills that are developed at St Swithun’s Sixth Form and Years 12 and 13 enjoy a intellectually stimulating relationship with the teachers.
The admission procedure requires pupils to take a common entrance examination with the expectation that 60% and over is required in order to be offered a place.
