West Hill Park School is a coeducational private independent day and boarding school for children aged 2½ – 13.
The school is located in the southern Hampshire village of Titchfield, which is about 3 miles west of Fareham. Established in 1920, the school has around 40 acres of land and educates approximately 280 pupils.
The school is divided into 3 sections, the nursery (ages 2½ – 4), the pre-prep school (ages 4 – 7) and the prep school (ages 7 – 13). The nursery is set in it’s own part of the grounds with an outdoor play area.
The core opening hours are 8.15am – 3pm, with additional after-school care running until 5.30pm. It also provides care during similar hours during holidays.
There is a wide range of facilities available to the pre-prep and prep schools including a floodlit all-weather pitch and an indoor swimming pool.
The pre-prep students have access to a specially made outdoor classroom set in the woodland within the grounds and are also exposed to French, music, swimming and gymnastics as well as the standard curriculum.
The prep school operates a house system which encourages healthy competition in sports and academia.
Other facilities on site include a horse riding yard, fencing salle and dance studio and there is also a packed calendar of after school clubs and activities.
There is a boarding house at West Hill Park school that has room for around 50 boarders, with girls in one wing and boys in the other.
The school offers the option of full or flexi boarding and it is fairly common for day pupils to stay overnight for one or two nights per week.
There is a team of ‘Houseparents’ who look after the running of the house and the welfare of the children and included in the housing staff are a matron and qualified nurse.
There is a vast range of communal facilities available to boarders and their is a very active evening and weekend programme of sports and activities.
West Hill Park School does not have a formal entrance examination, but it does like to hold informal interviews and assessments for the pre-prep and preparatory schools.
Parents are invited to make an appointment to meet the staff and have a tour of the school and it’s facilities, in order to get a feel for the atmosphere. Bursaries are available for certain situations.
Further questions should be made to the school directly using the contacts detailed listed above.
